The Definition Of A Motel

The word motel entered dictionaries after World War II and is derived from the words motor and hotel. It is an establishment which provides both accommodation and parking and is intended to provide short term lodging for motorists. The units are often attached, opening onto the parking area and built in an L or U shape. It was the building of interstate highways which resulted in the popularity of motels in the United States of America. Hotels and rest houses were mostly situated in the cities which meant that motorists would have no option but to travel non-stop to the next city or State. Motels began to be established in towns and suburbs and were very convenient for motorists. Motels are targeted at travellers and provide shelter overnight unlike hotels. Although the quality of the rooms is high and they are often serviced they still tend to be cheaper than hotels. Units often include a self contained kitchen and all will have the facility to make tea and coffee. Being able to cook your own meals can be a great saving. Generally the rooms have outside entrances and are accessible to the car park. You are often able to park your car at your motel door which is extremely convenient for unpacking and packing your luggage as well as being secure. It would be a rare hotel which did not have a dining room and serve meals. Most motels do not offer this facility which allows them to offer cheaper rates. You are not expected to pay for a service thay you are unlikely to use. Motels offer studio,...

The Definition of Sterilization

The method of sterilization process is through heating, irradiating, and filtrating. Heating method includes autoclaving, dry heating, tyndallisation, and also pasteurization. In the past, people used fire to sterilize items. This operation was later founded as ineffective because it denatured protein. People found many other disadvantages as time passed. This fact lead many people to look for a better way to sterilize items. Dry heating was found as ineffective way in sterilizing tools, foods, and other. This method was considered as much more ineffective than sterilizing using moist heat. It took a long time in killing dangerous pathogen. It needed at least 2 hours at 160 degree Celsius to kill the spores. It is very different from the saturating steam method. If you use saturating steam method, you will take only about 5 minutes to sterilize foods and other things. To know how effective a sterilization process, we have understand the thermal death time. It is the time when microbes must be placed under certain temperature before all of the microbes in the sample dead. The thermal death point is similar to the thermal death time. It is the temperature when all the microbes are dead. Nowadays, both ways to know the effectiveness of a sterilization process seem unsatisfactory because they depend on several factors. the factors are the number of microbes in the sample, the condition when we take the sample, and many other issues. To solve this problem, D-value (Decimal Reduction Time) can be taken as an action. Only 10% of the microbes can survive during this time. This is way is much better than the old...

RESPIRATORY FAILURE: DEFINITION

There is no precise clinical definition of respiratory failure; the diagnosis rests on the interpretation of arterial blood gas measurements. A patient can be said to be in respiratory failure if the arterial oxygen tension (-Pao2) falls below 8.0 kPa/60 mmHg (normal range 11.3-13.3kPa or85-100mmHg) or if the arterial carbon dioxide tension(Paco2) rises above 6.6kPa/50mmHg (normal range4.6-6.0kPa or 35-45 mmHg), when the subject is at sealevel, awake and breathing air. The condition may be acuteor chronic; if the patient has arterial hypoxaemia with a normal or low Paco2 then he or she is said to have type Irespiratory failure; and if the Paco2 is elevated, type IIrespiratory failure. Arterial hypoxaemia does not alwaysimply respiratory failure: a low inspired O2 at altitude or ananatomical right-to-left shunt, as in congenital heart diseaseor arteriovenous malformation, can cause hypoxaemiadespite normal lung function. In general, themain disturbance in type I failure is ventilation-perfusionmismatch, and in type II it is inadequate ventilation.Chronic respiratory failure in the UK is most commonlydue to chronic bronchitis and emphysema. Measurement of the alveolar-arterial (A-a) gradient isuseful in hypoxic patients, and may help to decide, forinstance, whether the patient’s hypoxaemia is secondary to central hypoventilation or to intrinsic lung disease. Bycalculating the A-a gradient the day-by-day progress ofpatients can be assessed even when they are being treatedwith varying concentrations of inspired oxygen. The A-agradient indicates the contribution of venous admixture(i.e. true shunt or V/Q abnormality) to hypoxaemia. It canbe calculated by using the concept of ‘ideal alveolar air PAO2 = FiO2 – Paco2/0.8 where FiO2 = inspired Po2 (20kPa in room air) and0.8 = respiratory exchange ratio. Thus the normal alveolaroxygen tension is...

Definition Of Nursing Practice

Nursing practice is an act of providing care to the patients. In providing care to the patients, the nurses implement a nursing care plan which is based on initial condition of the patient. It is based on a specific nursing theory. Following nursing theory and nursing research side by side is a must for patient care and nursing practice. Nurse Practice Act ascertains the protection of the public from harm. The Nursing Practice Act (NPA) sets out the scope of practice and responsibilities for RNs and formulates the rules ands regulations which specify the implementation of the law. Certain Formal training is required for licensure which is checked by the Nursing practice act. Each state board of nursing in the U.S. develops different NPA for that state. The scope of nursing practice includes the sets of duty that a nurse needs to perform in her job which can vary from place to place and state to state. It is necessary for travel nurses to learn the nurses’ scope to perform their work properly. Familiarization with NPA and nursing scope is necessary to perform the work properly. It is necessary for the nurses to familiarize with the new changes in NPA and scope within their state. Just acquiring degree or medical qualifications is not enough for the nurses to perform their job. Also, experience or observation in the course of your job is a must. In addition to your NPA you also need to be familiar with your present job description and the rules of your facility. There can be a difference in the sets of jobs that are deemed...

High Definition Camera in Your Pocket

Technology today has innovated the use, the features, and the style of video recording. Imagine being able to capture a special scene or event in your life in high definition with the use of a pocket video camera. An hd pocket camera is a tapeless camcorder that can fit into one’s pocket. It resembles the mobile phone both in shape and in size. What makes an hd pocket camera awesome is that you can bring it anywhere, whether you go clubbing and partying or go on adventure trips, without any hassle. Unlike the usual bulky camcorders, an hd pocket camera usually has a 1.5″ LCD screen. Another good thing about it is that its memory can be extended with SD cards while some offer a huge amount of internal memory (most hd pocket camera comes with 4GB internal memory). Some examples of the now famous hd pocket cameras are Creative Vado HD, Sony Bloggie MHS-PM5 and the Flip Video. Aside from its compact designs and ease of use, pocket cameras are also considered to be very affordable. The Third Generation Creative Vado HD was considered by PC World to be the top-rated hd pocket camera. It has the widest-angle lens among any of the other hd pocket camcorders. It has the best quality from exposure controls to low-light resolution at a cheap price of not more than $ 200. Another top-rated pocket camera is the Flip MinoHD. It is considered to be the sexiest and most solidly built pocket camcorder with its design and it has fine video quality, too. There are still a lot of top-rated hd pocket...
